Congratulations to Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Fort Worth

A few weeks ago, the Young Women’s Leadership Academy was named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2016. It was the only school in Fort Worth to receive such an honor.

The leadership academy, Fort Worth’s first single-gender school for girls in grades six through 12, opened in 2010, with 150 students. Today, they have 400 young ladies including 35 seniors.

The school engages their students in STEAM-focused coursework that emphasizes science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Along with a heavy course load, they utilize field-based exploration, and academic and college counseling.

Fort Construction has always supported women in our industry, typically a male-dominated industry. Currently, we have women in a number of roles within our company, including Accounting, Project Management, Superintendent, Marketing/Project Administration, Carpentry and Field Labor – so we can appreciate their STEAM-focused coursework!

It is wonderful to see their hard work and dedication pay off.  We offer our congratulations to the YWLA students, teachers, staff, parents and community!  Well done.
