What a weekend for Ben Kern! The Abilene native notched the best finish by a club pro at the 100th PGA Championship.
Kern, who shot 71-69-67-70, finished tied for 43rd at 3-under. This was the best finish by a club pro at the PGA Championship in 13 years. Kern played college golf at Kansas State, and currently works at the Georgetown (Texas) Country Club.
Last year, Kern joined the Fort Construction team for the CREW de Mayo golf tournament, and they came in first place. Kern is in the red hat on the far right. He’s pictured with Steve Fleiner, Caleb Midkiff, and Bridger Clader. Kern spent a couple of years working with Steve on his game. (No word from Steve if he plans to turn pro.)
We’re pretty sure the CREW de Mayo first place finish gave him the confidence to master the Bellerive Country Club course in St. Louis. Many congratulations to Ben on playing so well, and earning top honors as a club pro!
