DFW Shows Strong Job Growth in 2014

For the first time since 1990, DFW led in job growth for a full calendar year amongst U.S. metropolitan areas.

That story was in the Star-Telegram last week and it was welcome news.  We all benefit from the more than 136,000 jobs added – especially those who found employment.  Of course, we’ve also seen fluctuations in the oil & gas market which affects our part of the country.

According to the executive vice president of economic development for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, DFW has a diverse labor market, but around 25% of the jobs in downtown Fort Worth are related to the oil and gas industry.

We’ve had one project postponed and it was in fact for an oil and gas exploration company.  Nevertheless, the area’s construction market continues to be active and we are still very busy – providing bids, consultations, scheduling new projects and completing current projects.
