CONNECTOR TO NEAR SOUTHSIDE PLACED ON HOLD

If you have been keeping up with the news in and around Fort Worth, you know that the Hemphill-Lamar Connector has been placed on hold by the Fort Worth City Council.

The connector, which has been in the discussion and planning stages for 15 years, would include a four-lane street along with a pedestrian tunnel, featuring sidewalks and bike lanes.

With contracts awarded, land condemned, utilities installed, and a celebrated ground-breaking just seven months ago, those of us in Near Southside were thrilled that progress was finally being made on a new connector.

Whether you live or work in the Near Southside area, the Hemphill-Lamar Connector is of vital importance.  Currently, the area is experiencing something of a renaissance with a number of new businesses taking root and over 1,000 new residential units in the planning stage or being built.  Connectivity to and from the Near Southside area is key for this sustained growth.

It is our hope that the Council will eventually decide to move forward with this much-needed project.  If you’d like to read more about this story, click here.
